Hardware · Overguard S1

One sealed pod. Any helmet. Thirty seconds.

Overguard S1 clips to the rear band of any EN 397 safety helmet and streams live safety, position, and environmental telemetry to the platform. Three status LEDs, an SOS button, a debossed mark. Everything else is sealed inside.

Overguard S1 sensor pod: sealed housing with three status LEDs and debossed Overguard mark
Overguard S1Product render · pre-production specification
Sealed by design

Nothing to configure. Nothing to break.

The pod senses, the platform thinks, your team acts. Every interaction a worker needs lives on the outside of the housing, and nothing else does.

3-LED status strip
Device, network, and alert state at a glance, readable through site grime.
SOS button
Deliberate 1.5-second hold. A knock or a glove brush never fires it.
Debossed mark
Debossed Overguard mark, machined into the housing. No stickers to peel.
Charging contacts + USB-C
Magnetic pogo-pin dock for the fleet, USB-C for the field.
NFC provisioning zone
Tap to assign, tap to audit. Provisioning without an exposed port.

  • No camera
  • No microphone or speaker
  • No exposed electronics

Detection

Seven kinds of safety event, on every helmet, all the time.

Falls and man-down
6-axis IMU fires within 200 ms. On-device filtering rejects the everyday motion that looks like a fall but isn’t.
Zone breaches
GNSS plus indoor BLE positioning. Geofenced exclusion zones raise an Alert the moment a worker crosses the line.
Impact events
High-G detection logs every sudden event. Vehicle filtering keeps haul-road rides out of the Alert queue.
SOS
Deliberate 1.5-second hold of the side button routes a worker-raised Alert with position attached.
Lone worker check-ins
Automatic prompts when a worker has been isolated past the configured threshold. Escalates on a missed reply.
Environmental exposure
Temperature, humidity, noise (dB-A), and air quality (PM2.5 / PM10), sampled and streamed continuously.
BLE gas integration
Pairs with the external gas detectors your workforce already carries, so their readings land in the same Alert pipeline.

Intelligent filtering

False alerts erode trust. We engineer them out.

Vehicle detection

When GPS speed crosses 15 km/h, high-G events are tagged as vehicular. No fall Alert when a worker takes the haul road.

Helmet-off detection

The pod recognises when a helmet has been set down and flags the worker as off-helmet rather than firing a man-down.

Graduated pipeline

Detection, confirmation, worker check-in, then Alert. Every event passes the same gates before it reaches a supervisor.

Connectivity

Always reaching the platform, even when the site can’t.

LTE-M / NB-IoT · primary
Embedded SIM, low power, and alert delivery inside the sub-3-second LTE-M industry latency benchmark.
4G LTE · fallback
Automatic failover when LTE-M is unavailable. Workers never drop off the platform.
LoRaWAN · remote sites
Kilometres of range through a site gateway shipped with the deployment kit, for sites beyond cellular coverage.
Bluetooth 5.2
Indoor positioning via anchor beacons and pairing with external gas detectors, all from the same radio.

Positioning

Every worker, outdoors and in.

  • Outdoor. u-blox M10 GNSS receiver with GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo: 2–3 m accuracy in clear sky, re-acquired in seconds when a worker steps out from cover.
  • Indoor. Bluetooth 5.2 mesh positioning via anchor beacons carries the same workers through basements, stairwells, and steel-framed structures where GNSS won’t reach.
Specifications

The honest spec sheet.

Overguard S2 · In development

The next pod is already on the bench.

Overguard S2 is in development, 18–24 months out. None of the capabilities below ship on S1, and none of them are needed for the platform to work today. Sites that deploy S1 now move to S2 on the same subscription when it arrives.

Native gas detection
O2, CO, H2S, and LEL sensing on the pod itself, with no external detector required.
Heart rate + HRV (not on S1)
Optical PPG heart rate and variability for fatigue and strain signals. Not on S1.
Skin temperature
Continuous skin-temperature sensing for heat-stress monitoring.
UWB indoor positioning
Ultra-wideband precision positioning to under 30 cm indoors.
Overguard S1 deployment kit flat-lay: pod, magnetic charging dock, USB-C cable, quick-start card, and box

Deployment kit

Everything a site needs, in one shipment.

S1 pods
One per worker, pre-configured for your site before they ship.
Magnetic charging docks
80% charge in 45 minutes. One overnight charge runs a full shift.
USB-C cables + quick start
Field charging and a two-step quick-start card in every box.
LoRaWAN site gateway
Included for remote sites: commodity gateway hardware, configured by us.
Provisioning
  1. 01Clip the S1 to the rear band of any EN 397 helmet.
  2. 02Scan the QR code on the back of the pod.
  3. 03Assign the pod to a named worker.
  4. 04The worker appears on the live site map.

Pilots

Put S1 on your next site.

Hardware is included in the subscription: pods, docks, and gateway ship as part of pilot deployment, with no capital purchase.
